What’s Straining About Online Classes?
By Hammad
The recent pandemic of Covid-19 has led to the ‘New-Norm era’, where everyone must practice social distancing. This physically distant world may appear to be a possible antidote and utopia for introverts but it has instigated a lot of difficulties to people from every walk of life. The transformation to the online world which is supposed to connect people, has actually disconnected them in so many ways. The corporate world seems to be dealing okay with this ‘work from home’ practice but the students and teachers don’t appear to be handling it quite as well.
Learning is a two-way street when teachers not only use their words to get through their students, but also use their gestures and body language to create a meaningful impact. The eye contact between the teachers and the students give rise to a special kind of trust which makes learning and teaching easy for everyone.
Online classes have put certain restrictions on the creativity of the instructors to deliver their lectures. Their resources have become limited. They have to put extra effort in making sure if everyone is on the same page. It is nearly impossible for the teachers to keep an eye on every student to ensure their active participation.
Virtual learning is an equal nightmare for the students as well. The fear that they might lose the connection during test and lectures constantly drives them crazy. Moreover, for kinaesthetic learners it is difficult to learn anything in this virtual environment. The online session leaves students unsatisfied especially, those who are not ready to put in extra effort to ask questions if they don’t grasp any concept clearly.

Though one doesn’t have to dress up to attend an 8am class, the struggles associated with online classes remain. Online classes add more burden instead of easing up the load of involved individuals or groups. It’s high time to sort out new creative ways that can be an alternate to physical classes without going through the distress of the conventional online system.
